Birthday!

She is finally here! Clara Carol Pecunia arrived at 9:18 AM on Saturday March 29th. She weighed in at 8 lb, 8 oz and was 20 inches long. Mother and baby are both doing well and happy to be home.

No baby yet, but working on it

We've been in the hospital for induction since yesterday morning. So far things are going slow and steady. At last check (about 6 hrs ago) I was at about 3 cm dilated. I'm tired and will try to get some sleep tonight, but I'll admit the surges are getting a little difficult to ignore. We hope she shows up sometime tomorrow. But regardless of when she is born, I'll be sure to post the details ASAP.

Induction Scheduled for 3/26

Tomorrow my pregnancy will be at 42 weeks and my OB is insisting on induction. I'm not pleased at all about it considering she and I are both healthy. She has passed 3 non-stress tests/ultrasounds over the past week and continues to kick me constantly... just healthy and stubborn. I am concerned that an induction will put her under stress and increase the likelihood of cesaean section for both of us.

Fetal Non-Stress Test

Baby Pecunia passed her test with flying colors. The main findings that interested me were:
1) her approximate weight is 8lb, 1oz; but that could be about a half pound off in either direction
2) there is no sign of her umbilical cord around her neck
3) her placenta is high and not obstructing my cervix and
4) she is still a girl... I made them double check just in case they had missed something on the first ultrasound.

Now we just continue to wait for the big day.

OB Check-Up March 17

Another OB check-up without any changes. Cervix is closed, blood pressure is good, baby's heart rate is normal.

They wanted to induce this week, but I managed to get them to wait. I had to agree to a fetal biophysical profile scheduled for tomorrow; but as long as everything checks out, it will buy me another week before they start pushing induction again.

I really want to allow my body to handle the birthing process naturally without induction or intervention. I seem to be the only one able to be patient. The doctors admit that everything looks fine, but they still want to control my baby's birth. On the upside, at least I'll get to have an ultrasound as part of the biophysical profile. Maybe afterward I'll have a new picture or two to post tomorrow.

4 Days "Overdue"

Whoever said that pregnancy is a beautiful thing obviously never looked too closely at a woman 4 days past her 'due' date.

I feel (and look) like I'm about to pop! I miss my toes and my innie belly button. I know it is all worth it, but right now I sure wish she'd hurry up and give me my body back. There just isn't enough room for the two of us, and I was here first :)

OB Check-Up March 10

Two days until the official "due" date; however, there has been no change in my or baby's status since our last check-up.

It looks like my little girl is quite comfortable right where she is and has no plans on coming out to see everybody just yet.

My next appointment is scheduled for a week from now. We'll see how that one goes.

OB Check-Up March 5

Baby is doing great. Strong heartbeat. Perfect position (head down, bottom out). And she has dropped low into my pelvis.

However, no dilation for me yet so I think we still have a while more to wait.
