Clara at School

Here is Clara at her new school working with pegs.
She seems to really enjoy it, but I sure miss her at home.

First Day of School

Clara started Montessori School today. She looked so cute when I had her ready to go.

It's Potty Time

My baby girl peed in her potty today for the first time. When she woke up from her nap her diaper was still dry so I sat her on the potty in front of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with a sippy of apple juice. After a few minutes she got up and low and behold she had peed.

For those of you non-parents out there, you may be disgusted by my story, but the rest of you can understand my sheer excitement! Now I know we have a long way to go before she wants to go and will tell me, but at least she now knows that she can potty somewhere other than a diaper.

Breaking Out

This afternoon we put Clara down for a nap in her crib, but she had other ideas. She wailed and screamed from her crib, then the next thing I knew she opened her nursery door and came to find me in my bedroom.

After a while I finally got her to take a nap, but only in my lap.

Ut-oh... that means Baby can now escape her crib. Good thing most of her afternoon naps will be taking place at Montessori school starting Monday.

15 Month Check-Up

Clara has completed her 15 month check-up and is (as expected) doing great. She weighs in at 25.3 lbs (80%). She is 33.5 inches long (above 97% - the highest the chart measures). And her head circumference is 19 inches (95%).

The doctor seemed pleased with her social and emotional development as well as physical. But she did have to get two more vaccinations. Ouch!

Next check-up is scheduled for 18 months. At that one she will get the last of her vaccines until kindergarten. What a relief!

Pecunia Playground

Problem: What to do with a monkey-climbing girl when it is too hot or too wet to go to the park?
Answer: Create a park in your living room!

It started small, the Little Tikes cube seen on the right side of the photo. That was such a hit that we picked up the larger little Tikes climber on the right side of the photo. Now our living room is officially Park Pecunia.

But I guess our adult living space is a small price to pay for a happy baby!

Clara playing on the little cube.

She loves to climb up high where she can see Mom and Dad eye to eye.

And her favorite part... the slide!

Baa-Moo

Clara doesn't say much, but she is learning some animal sounds. She had been mooing for a while, but the baaaa for the sheep is new.
